Nova Scotia has its own designated nude beach at Crystal Crescent near Halifax. There are also two other popular spots in the province. Public nudity is still illegal in Canada. To avoid trouble, the Bluenose Naturists Club recommends sticking to the following guidelines: avoid sexual activity, cover up outside the beach area and respect the privacy of others. To reach the nude section of Crystal Crescent Beach, walk 20 minutes south past the two clothing-required beaches and you'll reach the clothing-optional spot.

While many conservative Nova Scotians are terrified of naked bodies, living a clothing-free lifestyle can be managed. For a handful of Haligonians, skinny-dipping is more than just a late-night-drunken escapade. It's a communal philosophy of living in harmony with nature and each other. The Bluenose Naturist Society has a membership of around 50 people.

That is, nude beaches. The upper half of this great sandy beach has been use by nudist for past 15 years. Caribou Beach near Pictou on route 6 is a nice 2 mile long beach. Leave car at the Provinicial Picnic grounds and walk north about 15 minutes.
